Rage Cage, Happy Holidays, and Likes

I’m absolutely fuming over in League of Legends. Sometimes I wonder what goes on in the minds of my teammates. 1v4? Jumps into the fray and gets killed, blames teammates for not backing he/she up when the team is dispersed. All sorts of shit that happens in game makes me really mad. I call it, The Rage Cage. When I’m in that state, I lose it. I’m on tilt. I start making sloppy plays and events start to cascade towards defeat. It’s bad if it happens in ranked games. RAGE CAGE!

Finally reached ten likes on this blog, which surprises me. Ten might not sound a lot, but every little bit of support helps.

Besides that, I’m still fixing my Korean client for Black Desert because I’m getting some weird stutters that seem unusual. I hope you guys have a Happy New Year, Happy Holidays and all that good stuff.

It’s Been 8 Months

It’s been a while since I’ve written something, but I thought it was time to restart this thing. I can’t promise any daily content, but I will write what’s on my mind. I mean this is what WordPress is all about right?

I know writing gaming content probably isn’t the way to attract new audience. It’s still a niche scene (a growing one). It’s what I love.

My thoughts on Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin

I was apprehensive about this remaster version of Dark Souls: enhanced graphics, new items and placement, and new enemy placements. It sounds nice, but I felt it wasn’t going to be enough. I have spent 250 hours on Dark Souls II. So I knew where certain items were, enemy placements, etc. But SOTFS feels different. The new enemy placement changes the game entirely: Cyclops by the river in the Forest of Giants, Cursed Pursuer by the Bastille, the dragon in Heide, and more. There are new red phantoms in the game. One in particular, The Forlorn, provides new equipment for you to collect if you succeed in killing them.

Graphics Comparison (not exact frame by frame, but the details should pull through. Left is DX9, Right is DX11)

The lighting is more dramatic. The colors feel less washed out especially in Heide’s Tower. The Gutter is dark as hell. Majula has a supernova as a sun. King’s Passage lighting is more dramatic. The lighting bounces off your armor and weapons. The fire effects in the game provide the proper illumination. The graphics are crisper and slightly more detailed.

Co-Op is up to six players (up from four). This is a boon for fight clubs and people seeking help clearing content. Although in boss fights, you wouldn’t want more than two summons because of the scaling health. You get all the DLC packaged into this bundle. If you didn’t buy the season’s pass or the individual DLCs, this is a perfect opportunity to experience them in higher fidelity.

Cons:

The main con of this remaster is the split player base. On PC, DX9 and DX11 will be on different servers. So if you plan on staying on DX9, you can only interact with that player base.

Should you get SOTFS?

Yes. Even if you have all the DLCs from the previous game, you get a major discount for remaster. Twenty Dollars. It feels like a different game and that’s saying something considering my time with the previous version.

My favorite Streamers

My two favorite streamers is TheLadeeDanger and Kripparian.

Lets start with Kripparian. It started with his stream of Diablo 3 and his race to hardcore inferno. It was interesting to see him invested into the game. He taught me a lot of tips and tricks, which enabled my own progression. His sense of humor and grief makes it one of the most enjoyable streams. Plus it helps that Slam Jam/FrankerZ combo plays in once in a while. The people in chat are some of the most trolling and offensive people to date. I would not trade it for anything because it’s hilarious. As long as you don’t take chat too seriously, it’s all fun. Kripparian does respond to chat once in a while, but with over 25,000 people watching at peak, it’s hard for him to keep track of the chat. He also uploads regular YouTube videos each week. These videos consist of his opinions of cards in Hearthstone and the events surrounding the game.

TheLadeeDanger is a cosplayer with a relatively small group of followers. She’s a great cosplayer and when I heard she had a stream, I had to check it out. She’s a down to earth person. She responds to comments on chat which makes interacting with her fun. It’s an engaging stream. Since the following is small, the people there have a chance to mingle, which generates a small following that knows one another. Personally, I’ve been invited to game sessions and the matches tend to be on the humorous side. She also has green hair. It’s a plus

So I chose two streamers from the opposite spectrum. Kripparian has a huge following while Ladee has a small following. Kripparian for his hilarious “WHAT!” and Ladee for her attentiveness to her viewers (and the faces she makes). Both of them fulfill the criteria I looked for in streamers. Their personalities is what draws me in and keeps me coming back for more.

The calm before the storm

So I’m finally back into some serious gaming after a week or papers, reading assignments, and lack of sleep. I went and did my placement matches in League of Legends. I do not miss doing ranked games at all. People who troll and have anger issues plague the game still. For example, I’m playing support and my ADC is Jinx. She gets caught by Thresh and blames me for not helping her. Thresh lands five hooks on her in the first ten minutes of the game. We lose because our lane gets shot down. Jinx proceeds to rage at me and AFKs for the rest of the game. Yeah, great way of destressing after work right?

Almost over

The semester is wrapping up. You should see my room right now. It’s a complete mess. I’m looking forward to playing some Path of Exile. I feel I should start another character. So much has changed that starting over would be the right choice.

I would also focus on tightening up my writing. My grammar and pronunciation is my number one priority. I need to master the fundamentals.

it’s a short post today. I have way too many papers to edit and write.

Sim out!

Lack of updates

I’ve neglected writing anything for the past couple months. To be honest, I should have no excuse for this. Laziness? Probably. I’ll try to be consistent now that classes are ending. I’m going to be using the winter break to tighten up my writing. On another note, I will be updating this blog with gaming related entries, short stories, and some poetry.
